For craft that will be the way to go. The blueprints are at https://invent.kde.org/packaging/craft-blueprints-kde/-/tree/master/extragear/rkward. TBH, I'm not sure what is the most craft-ish approach. My guess is that it will be easiest to handle all inside rkward.py `fetch()`, and ditch the separate rkward-translations blueprint. I can do that, myself, if you prefer, but then you'll have to wait for me...

For Launchpad, the sources to use have to be repos on launchpad itself. These can be (and are) mirrors, but as far as I am aware there is no way to do any scripting during the "fetch" stage. The LP recipes are at https://code.launchpad.net/%7Erkward-devel/rkward/+git/rkward/+recipes . You'd have to be in the team to modify them, but as you can see, all that needs to be (and can be) done there is to specify where in the source tree to "nest" the additional files. import_translations.py may need a switch to allow importing to a separate directory (the auxiliary repository).
