ok, found some info:
 https://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/base/html/libPaths.html

so versioning is only used as the default setting, otherwise you need to add 
"%v" somewhere in the path. this currently can't be added manually to a path 
set in RKWard's package configuration.
