getting slow with large data.frames

hi,

i got another bug report via PM: RKWard 0.6.5 (windows 10 with 32GB RAM) 
becomes utterly slow after importing a data file of 1.5MB (~600,000 fields). 
is there generally something we could do about this, or is this due to the 
memory usage of R?

i've requested more information on this, this is literally all i have ATM.
