rkward --reuse also broken?

no, that didn't help either.

btw, you can replace the installed rkward in the running live system by 
adjusting the content of /etc/apt/sources.list.d/rkward-devel-ubuntu-rkward-
stable-cran.list to point to the rkward-kf5-backports-daily-cran repository 
and use aptitude to upgrade.
