yes, I broke this in r4554 while trying to fix a focus issue. I wonder why I 
did not notice it. I hope my new attempt did not have any side-effects.

That's an old one. Probably easily fixable, but not sure when I'll invest the 
time to find out just *where* it needs fixing.
