i'm not so sure here either... i looked around a bit, but didn't find concrete 
info on that yet. but as you said, it's probably a good idea to do some 
adjustments and lose this dependency.

well, let's first see how far i get ;-)

if the docs are correct, you can even create binary packages that run without 
any MacPorts dependency:
 o http://guide.macports.org/#using.binaries.binary-packages

so in theory it should even be possible to create a bundle like for windows. 
it might make RKWard really popular once people find out it comes with a 
precompiled KDE :-P
