I encountered the same error using ubuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.1 and KDE 
4.2.1. Using dpkg with the following command solved the problem for me, 
although I don't know wheter this is a wise thing to do:

dpkg --install --force-overwrite rkward_0.5.0c-test1-1_i386.deb
