My opinion on KWord is really really low. Inspite of their bragging KOffice 
suite is just not friendly. I am not talking of compatibilites with M$ 
formats. Even when I have tried to write a document with KWord, things have 
screwed up. On the other hand openoffice.org seems to work wonderfully well. 

I think the following points (as you have  noted) are worth mentioning:

1. Export as html from RKWard output and open it in OO.org writer/web.
2. Copy from RKWard output and paste in OO.org writer
3. Drag images from RKWard onto OO.org writer.

If I am not wrong these are the ONLY methods of integration right now. As for 
KDE/Gnome specific conflicts/compatibilities, I can't help, I don't use Gnome 
at all.
