Another question, can you place the cursor at any other position (after you
have pasted something into the console), or does it always remain at the same
line/column?

This is weird, indeed. Unfortunately, I can't really make anything of this,
ATM.

Ok, so it does not really seem to be a focus problem, after all.

Well, the problem is finding the required run-time files when installing into
any other directory. I suppose this should be possible by adjusting $KDEDIRS
(see http://enterprise.kde.org/articles/korporatedesktop2.php). But I've
never tried it myself, and can't give any advice. Also, while this is not
exactly a "clean" approach, it is technically possible to run 0.4.5pre1
without installing it: It will use the installed files of 0.4.2, instead.
Some things will not work, or not as usual in 0.4.5pre1. However, for testing
just this particular issue, it should work without the make install.

These are nothing to worry about.

Which probably rules out katepart as the source of trouble as well. I must
admit, I'm pretty clueless ATM.
One thing that's definitely worth a try: Rename/move
~/.kde/share/config/rkwardrc (where all user settings are stored). Does this
fix the issue? If so, could you send me a copy of that file for closer
inspection?
Regards
