Ok, maybe one more radical attempt with scim: Could you try

# apt-get remove scim

? Hopefully that should get rid of the ScimInputContextPlugin. If that changes 
anything, we'll know where to look next. If not - I'm afraid I'm running out 
of ideas, soon.
