I'm not a packager so I don't know, but...
does it makes distro packaging harder? If there is no kdenetwork4.0
then the distro can ship a kdenetwork3.5.7 with apps that should
work under the 4.0 desktop. i.e. they won't have to break out a
separate kopete-3.5.7 + kdenetwork-4.0 ??
maybe?
