On X11 you can set an environment variable. Experience is not great.
On Wayland, Qt Virtual keyboard plugin won't work. There is some work
in progress on addressing this.

Maliit is the preferred option at present, on wayland it should be
available under system settings -> virtual keyboard where you can
then choose maliit.
