qtvirtualkeyboard-plugin and Maliit Qt 5 Dependency in Plasma on Kubuntu 24.04.1

Hi KDE Plasma Team,
I’m running KDE Plasma on Ubuntu 24.04.1 with Qt 5.15.13, and I’ve
noticed an odd thing: the qtvirtualkeyboard-plugin is in the repos (I
can install it), but it doesn’t seem accessible or functional after
logging into a Plasma session. I’d expect it to work out of the box
for virtual keyboard support—am I missing a step, or is something up?
While digging into this, I also noticed that
maliit-inputcontext-qt5—the Qt 5 input context plugin for Maliit,
which feels like a Plasma-friendly choice—seems absent too. I’ve got
maliit-framework and libmaliit-plugins2 installed, but no Qt
5-specific input context shows up. Is this tied to the Qt 6
transition, a packaging quirk in Noble, or something else? Any insight
would be awesome—thanks for all your amazing work!
Cheers,
Marc
