Application Launcher redesign in latest kde version

Hello dear KDE developers.
I find the last layout changes in the application launcher a serious
regression in usability.
Clicking on the launcher icon in the panel and moving the mouse vertically
up produces quick changes in the right pane view, since hovering the item
list on the left changes the contents of the right pane itself.
In the earlier versions, the same operation allowed immediate access to
favorites.
The new behaviour is quite annoying. Favorites should be meant to have easy
access. In the new launcher, after clicking on the icon I have to move the
mouse left and up in an inverted "L" shape.

Could there be an option to have the old layout?
