  Thanks Nate, even if that's not the answer I was hoping for ...
  The future of this patch:
  
  - accept to break some systems (but who wants that ?)
  - add an option for this quadratic progression somehwere
  - drop it
  
  What do you think ? (the question is for anybody interested!)
