I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing here ;)
I wasn't suggesting to replace the name and description with an icon. I was 
just concerned that if we get many configurable plugins at some point, the 
second column would be full of cogwheels and might feel heavy. If we show the 
cogwheel only for the plugin the cursor is currently hovering over, it might 
feel lighter.
And I don't find that pattern problematic in the Network Manager Plasmoid.

As long as not many plugins are configurable, always showing the cogwheel for 
those which are should be fine, though.
