Usability issue in the task bar applet

The default task bar Plasma applet ("tasks") has a very irritating
behavior with minimized windows. When a window is minimized, its task
bar entry and icon are given a grayscale and transparency effect. See
screenshots [1] and [2].

Although this may sound like a good idea in theory, it's terrible for
usability in practice. I struggle to find minimized windows from my task
bar on a daily basis because of this. At a pixel size of 16x16 color is
an extremely important element of application icons. It's essential for
recognition. I find myself trying to avoid minimizing windows completely.

There is a bug tracker issue for this at [3].

Please reconsider this behavior. It has very little utility yet it
causes many issues. This undesirable behavior was introduced in commit
8b5d78dd4213eb110a156fd73a7ca9323afb6f2d.
