lack of feedback on failure is a quirk. it is not a reason to not make a 
proper release of it. the functionality is, well, functional.

i think we all agree there are a few things that can use and should get 
improvement, including:

* feedback on failure
* the option to retry on failure
* queueing for automatic retry when specific conditions are met (e.g. network 
becomes available again)
* ability for an application to register internal or active data and in such 
situations be given the chance to save state before the final action takes 
place

none of these things require holding up the release however. the best evience 
for this is that we've already put out three stable releases of SLC and it has 
proven all sorts of useful in its current state.
