new version for kcfg - strange behavior

I am using kcfg in order to store some settings from my plasmoid.
In the next version of my plasmoid I have to add some fields in the kcfg.
More specific the field is called ActiveMode, type Boolean.

The issueis that because in the user's old settings configuration file 
does not exist an
ActiveMode fieldno storing occurs at all... Should this workor there is
another way to achieve this behavior? Workaround is that if I add manually
the field in the user's old settings configuration filethen everything 
works fine...
