It works well enought without network. Luckily I had it synchronize a demo 
mail account at home so I can show mails in Kontact touch and I had marble 
download most of the openstreetmap and satelite tiles for the area so this is 
working as well.

People really like it. Those who know the WeTab are positively surprised by 
its snappiness :)
