on that note, it is also fairly trivial to go from a running activity to a 
script that recreates that activity. i wrote a proof of concept script using 
the desktop scriping console that did this, in fact:

doing similar from C++ in plasma-destop itself wouldn't be hard at all.

scripts should be more portable between systems as well as they could do 
screen coordinates checking, ensure that plasmoids exist before creating them 
etc.
