Alt+space is used by other environments to open the window menu (alt+f3). So 
for somebody switching from GNOME or Windows to KDE this could be a problem. 
In KWin there is a feature request to change from alt+f3 to alt+space (bug 
222945).

As an old Katapult user I personally would love to have alt+space as the 
shortcut for KRunner, but I don't think it's a good idea to change a shortcut 
probably known to all KDE users.
