fetching 0-3 comics instead of always fetching exactly one? I say there's no 
need for an option.  you'd have to have a pretty limited device or connection 
for the download of one or two images to be an issue.

why not just prefetch both - keep a cache of the current, previous and next? 
of couse 99% of the time you'd already have the comic for one direction since 
it'd be one you recently visited.
