it's not "too much configurability" (we're a lot more relaxed on that for 
things in addons, just as we are with coding style :), but what this 
particular kind of configurability innevitably leads to. it's not something 
that can be fixed without destroying the entire point of adjustable clock, 
which obviously isn't an option.
