good questions. i prefer each in its own folder under applets.

due to its location, the simple menu is a bit hard to find if you aren't 
familiar with the source code tree already.

of course, whether it belongs in kdebase or kdeaddons is another good 
question, and would come down to how critical we feel a dock would be to the 
default experience.
