can you comment out the line c->d->toolBox->setViewTransform(v->transform()); 
in kdelibs/plasma/applet.cpp, rebuild in kdelibs/plasma and try again?

(i'm trying to narrow it down to see if it's the switching between toolbar and 
cashew that's doing it, or if its the whole toolbox just going *poof* on zoom 
in)
