Image Blur function

I've been trying to decide what the cleanest way might be to add a blurred shadow to the folderview title so that it matches the text in the file view (and of course gets the benefits of having a blurred shadow).  There is a blur function available in qimageblitz but it's outside of kdebase and I wasn't sure if such a dependency would be ok.  The blur code could just be duplicated for folderview. It appears something similar was done for krunner results.  

Any suggestions?

A more general question is whether or not it's worth moving/adding some of these image filter/transform type functions into kdelibs for 4.2.
