The rest: do you wish to have functionality of current containment but to get rid of this super-plasmoid and have access to its features via desktop context menu? If yes this goes in a little different direction -- because for me, I don't need this super-plasmoid widget as well as its features. So I will be happy with blank containment with KDE 4.1, but for you I see reopening would be justified -- now, that is the matter if the design of KDE4 allows to interact with containment at the desktop level (I don't know).
