Aaron, I did some of this, though Paulo Capriotti did the scaling code iirc, 
anyway, I'll take a look at it as it's been bothering me lately too.

I'll be working on bugfixes today and tomorrow anyway, so I'll try to get this 
in somewhere along the way. :)
