desktop containment background rendering

hi..

who's feeling responsible these days for the desktop containment wallpaper 
painting?

if i set the wallpaper to, e.g, Center it still renders it as ScaleAndCrop. 
can anyone else verify this? the code in there is a bit snaky, and as i didn't 
write any of that it'd be nice if someone who did have a hand in it could step 
up and save me some time perhaps =)
