Yes, the KDE 3 binaries are in /usr/bin. So I don't see how I can remove them from the path, since that's where most of the (non-KDE) binaries are located. Also, unless I'm mistaken, I don't think that ~/.bashrc is relevant for a running KDE system - it has its own path set in startkde, independent of ~/.bashrc.
