Summary: Panel transparency control regardless of theme
           Product: plasma
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: panel-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: kde-2 dotancohen com

Version: (using KDE 4.0.83)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Unlike KDE3, the user cannot specify the transparency of the KDE4 panels.

By reading other similar bugs, I think that the canned response would be that the panels, and therefore the transparency, is handled by themes. If this is so, then I trust that Plasma has the technology to add a generic 'transparency' option that would be independent of the current theme. The advantage of this would be that _all_ themes would then support transparency, and that each theme would not have to implement it separately.

This RFE is asking for the ability to configure the panels' transparency at the Plasma level, not at the theme level.
