This is a feature request for KDE4, perhaps related to Folder View and Plasma.

It would be great to watch the contents of a folder in the desktop. The idea would be like to click on top of a Folder, then get a quick "Folder View" window with the content of the folder and then once you click the file you want, the temporary "Folder View" closes.
