[PATCH] desktop icon appearance

Well, since I made the commit let me present why I made the changes. I had
been working with David Vignoni to make icons on the desktop prettier since,
they were rather ugly still. First, we fixed the grid size to something a
little more appealing. The major reason we decided to get rid of
backgrounds in IconApplet was that they were always a different size. While
it makes it slightly more difficult to read the text on light backgrounds I
really think that it reduces clutter on the desktop. This was also David's
thought as well. To be honest this is the first that I've heard of people
liking the background as everyone I've showed it to remarked how much better
it looks. Are there any other reason than, "it's hard to see the text on
light backgrounds"?
