until they use a white panel svg ;) it should really use Plasma::Theme::self()->backgroundColor() i suppose, though i'm not sure how compatible that is with how it's done now in the systray applet; e.g. does WhitePixel return an indexed colour or an actual rgb value? i think the former which would make things difficult indeed.
