 The window needs to be shown at least once to allow KWin get the window 
pixmap, it is not possible to get the pixmap for unmapped windows. It should 
work better after enabling the option to keep window pixmaps up to date in 
KWin's options, which keeps mapped even windows that normally should not be. 
It's somewhere in the TODO to do this at least on demand if needed.

 Yes, that's a good idea. Even in the case of doing this on demand this could 
this take some time.
