the arguments in this thread have been aesthetic. my concerns are both 
usability related and aesthetic. i'm really not interested in continuing a 
conversation for conversation's sake, nor am i interested in having "it looks 
good|bad|awesome" judgement masquerading under psuedo-usability 
rationalizations.

this discussion has been had sseveral times before, there are some pretty well 
defined baselines and until those are met, there is pretty much nothing 
further to discuss. going through the same conversation over and over does 
not a reasoned exploration make.

it's from the palette, but not the widget style. widget styles have nothing 
like this for us to use.
