qgraphicsitem's event model works in a rather different way from qwidget's and 
it's causing all sorts of odd issues. sometimes it works as one 
would "expect" coming out of the qwidget world, other times it just plain 
doesn't. some things i personally consider completely broken, e.g. there is 
no good way to pass a mouse press event to the parent and still receive mouse 
release events ... meh.

that's why we're (or, to be more precise: kevin, at the moment) is working on 
hover handles.
