Hi,
Regarding calendar I'd like to ask Georg to specify an explicit goal.

Take care,

Tom

Hi Tom and Bernhard,

This is a follow-up of your discussion on IRC as well.

Thank you very much for filling up the page with your ideas and for
giving your availability as mentors!

Tom: I am not an expert of core myself, but I suspect you're right.
Successful GSoC project have usually been those that do not require
the student to learn too much before he starts to code.

Bernhard: in my opinion the acceptance test suite makes it a great
project. Feel free to add yourself to any other projects you'd like to
mentor.

Two notes:
1) even though the scope of GSoC is limited to coding, you can add
documentation projects to the OPW list. It is another contest in which
we are going to participate (http://gnome.org/opw/) and its scope is
not limited to coding.

2) sorry, but I dislike projects of the kind "We need support/love
there", as the one we are proposing for the Calendar app. We should
try to be more clear with the boundaries of the project and, since the
beginning, with what we expect from the student to be accomplished at
the end of the summer. We can still rescue that idea by compiling a
set of well-defined features that we want to add to the Calendar app.

*personal note* I decided to get rid of my 'zimba12' nickname and to
use 'cosenal' everywhere instead. I am in the transition process, so
on IRC you will find me under zimba12 or cosenal. I am going to change
it on github as well.

Alessandro
