[Owncloud] Renaming / moving folders

Hi,

what is the correct way to rename or move a folder in ownCloud?

Is it possible to rename / move a folder (possibly containing hundreds
of files) on a client and the sync-client notices this and moves the
folder on the server?

Or is it necessary to do such an operation via the webinterface because
the sync-client is not able to detect it?

We have observed a behaviour where we think that the sync-client is only
able to detect that a folder has been removed and a new folder is
created causing it to upload the contents again. If that upload
operation does not finish soon enough other sync-clients may run into an
unclean state as they see both the old and the new folder.
