[Owncloud] Where can I find documentation for what a CardDav client has to do to talk to Owncloud?

As per the subject - where can I find documentation (preferably at
'HowTo' level, with examples) on how a CardDav client communicates with
Owncloud's Contacts app?

I don't mind *too* much what language is used but my preferences are
Python, PHP and C/C++ in about that order.

Generic CardDav documentation is fine as long as it works for Owncloud
(which it should I believe).
