[Owncloud] Puzzlement about sharing a folder...

Hi all,
it actually is the first time I thought of using my ownCloud to share some
files I needed later the day from a public place. Indeed, I use that ownCloud
a lot, but only for non file related things.
So I created a fresh folder and uploaded the files into that folder using
webdav from within my dolphin file manager. Three clicks and done: great.
Next I chose the "share" icon and selected "Share with link", copied the
resulting URL and had a try with another browser (not logged in).

The result of my tests so far:
- konqueror & rekonq: unable to load page but no error message on the server!
- chrome & firefox: displaying the folder as shared, but not all files within
the folder. Also when trying to access any file offered I am redirected to the
login page. Doesn't a shared folder allow to access the files within? So I
rechecked and saw that all the files inside the folder were marked as shared
(apparently automatic, I guess because the folder has been shared).
Nevertheless: no way to access the file, except when logging in.

So unfortunately in this case: totally unusable.
ownCloud is in version 5.0.7 on an openSUSE system and works fine apart from
using the files stuff.

So my question:
What do I miss here? I can't imagine sharing is that broken in ownCloud!
