[Owncloud] Any application there (apart from Media) using the user's password ?

It's a bit like writing "Contains hot ingredients" on a coffee mug. 
Reason should tell you.

I believe Firefox Plug Ins also don't give a warning, or do they?

Yes, but the problem is, that malicious apps can circumvent all of this.
