Just joined the list and saw this thread.

Yes I think there is a problem with drag and drop for files on Mac Chrome/Safari (latest versions) - at least for files with certain characters in the file name.

The file *appears* to upload (the upload bar indicates upload)  and the file gets listed, greyed out, but the adjacent ajax spinner does not stop. Refreshing the page sometimes reveals the file has uploaded successfully, sometimes not.

Initial testing suggests that web upload of an identical file, given different names, will succeed or fail depending on the characters in the name.  I have had it fail on files with spaces in (occasionally), but regularly on files with certain Japanese file names. I had the same problem uploading through the "new" button, with those files.

I posted a bug report about it.
