It does seem like there are some problems with SVG support. There is some 
javascript that should deal with it, but I have no idea how it works.

Can you try to file this as two different issues (SVG and Calendar going to 
Files section) at http://bugs.owncloud.org/thebuggenie/owncloud ? I know the 
bug tracker is sub-optimal (understatement of the year), but it's what we've 
got for now.

The upgrade procedures run silently in the background. You should be able to 
see what has been upgraded in the ownCloud log.
