[Owncloud] Cloud Storage Backends and File Encryption

Hello,

I had the chance to read a good article recapping some recent
developments, and highlighting that one can use cloud storage accounts
as a back-end into the OC file-sharing system. [0] That is a neat
development, but I was curious how that will work with the current state
of file encryption available in OwnCloud. Is it possible to use OC as
middle-ware of sorts (excuse the bad terminology) to have the files
encrypted to the cloud storage providers in question?

In a slightly unrelated note, I moved away from implementing my own OC
instance and completely relying on that because of what I read about the
file encryption algorithm used in the then current and stable branch.
Out of curiosity, will or have the developers moved away from Blowfish
in ECB mode? I know it is a performance versus security issue, and that
if I am storing stuff on OC, especially with the cloud back-end, I
should be the last to talk, but that blog post made me have serious
doubts about relying on OC solely as my file-store online and generally
avoid cloud file-stores. However, I see this as a kind of on the cheap,
pseudo-host-proofed system so I can have secure control of files with a
back-end more robust or larger than what I can have on the webserver I
run OC from.

Thanks for the software, in any event. I used it for a few weeks and
thought it was great.

Best,
_AJS
