[Owncloud] where to place data directory

i've just install owncloud-4.5.1 in windows 7 using iis server and i come
across a line which says "You must move the data directory outside of your
public root". so, my question is where do i place the data directory and
how do i set the path to the data directory or is it that just moving the
data directory outside public root sufficient. please help. thanks
