Please google the phrase "Not Invented Here"

It's a *LOT* of work to write a good webmail client. Witness how few 
good clients there are and of those which are half decent take a look at 
the size of the commit list, code base, number of authors, development 
period or any other half useful metric.

Please also google "baby and bathwater"

The web enables mashups of multiple applications in a way that isn't 
possible in traditional applications.  Lets keep an eye on that. Simple 
deployment is a very desirable goal, but does not exclude merging code 
bases, forking other projects, etc
