I’d advise against creating yet another, even more complicated syntax
and instead just going with a standard which is also used by other
decentralized software.

As we discussed at LinuxTag, the user address (user at host) will not be
that relevant anymore when we add real names and email addresses to
the search. Similar to autocomplete in the email client, where you
don’t put in each email by hand. Just check it on Diaspora – once a
user from another instance is cached at your instance, it’s no problem
to search by name.

And yes, we should include an »ownCloud profile« where you can put in
your name and profile image, it’s also good for sharing, to display
the images of other people so you can quickly see who you shared with.
