[Owncloud] Re: owncloud for non-techs

Thanks so much for the responses, guys. I sent this email without fully
understanding that it might go to a bulletin board. In any case, I have been
extremely lucky in that Aaron Reichman responded to an email I sent out and
took the time to have a long exchange with me about this. I now have the
instructions I need to get started setting up my own server - at least, I
know what the hardware requirements are and I can fill them in the next
week). I'm almost certain that I will go with an Apache-based setup, even
though this will require interfacing through the command-line system. It's
not a theoretical challenge, it's just something I've never done. Aaron
explained to me that there are other ways to do this which would allow me to
do it using a GUI of some sort, a visual interface with which I would be
more familiar, but that the majority of guys on the IRC channel are using
Linux/Apache and therefore will most likely be able to help me if I'm using
that platform.

If you guys are in the IRC channel at all, you will soon find me in there
bugging you about getting the web server up and running with Apache. I
should be able to handle getting Linux installed on a computer. Like I said,
I'm essentially in over my head with this, but I'm keen and willing to do my
own research as much as possible. I am extremely motivated to to get this
set up.

Android and webOS are in development).

Meanwhile, you can use any WebDAV client. A good (though proprietary) one
for iOS is WebDAV Navigator: http://seanashton.net/webdav/ It’s also
available for Android and BlackBerry.
